Trading Help on Warstorm

E-mail Print PDF

Everyone has most likely noticed the new feature: gifting cards! With this feature, people are able to do 1:1 trades, but it's not 100% safe. For instance, if you send the card first, your trading partner might not send you your part of the deal. It happens because it's Facebook; there are people who will do this. So for the first major rule: Be extremely cautious when doing the trade.

Update: The problem should be solved. Any lost cards should automatically revert back to the sender within a week. If you have any more problems, make sure to contact Zynga support here.

FBWS August 18th Update

E-mail Print PDF

With the Warstorm staff posting full update details on the Zynga forums, similar to what they did with .com Warstorm in the past, we'll regularly post updates on AoW for anyone who does not check those forums. The most notable feature in this update is the ability to gift cards you own to your friends. While this still isn’t a safe way to trade, it is one step closer to the trading system that everyone is hoping for.

Raging Hydra

With the introduction of the monster set, new abilities like Rage can be very fun to use in certain situations. One of the better cards with this ability is the Raging Hydra. Out of all the cards with the Rage ability, it is the only one that also has regeneration making it a formidable ground unit under the right circumstances.
With Rage, whenever the card’s health drops to 2 or less, it gains +3 attack until it‘s health is over 2 or it‘s killed. That makes for a combined attack of 6 which can one shot kill a lot of cards. While this can be very useful, it’s also short term. Thankfully, the Raging Hydra also has the regeneration ability. This will sometimes keep it alive long enough to get an extra Rage boosted attack in which is very handy. When combined with regeneration or healing artifacts, it becomes very tough to kill and will keep gaining the attack boost whenever you drop it’s health low enough again.
As with many cards without archery or flying, the Ragin Hydra has trouble against anything in the air. Going across a flying unit makes the Rage ability useless, but the regeneration will sometimes keep it around long enough to survive against the flying and hopefully get a fellow ground as it’s next opponent. As mentioned many times in the past, the Sigil of Azuba is one of the best anti-flying artifacts a ground unit can get. The attack is indirect, can hit flying, and heals the equipped card for 2 health whenever it does 2 damage. As a solid ground unit, the Raging Hydra generally has no issues against immune cards which in turn makes it one of the better choices in combination with the sigil.
With less flying and more ground cards overall, the Raging Hydra is useful the majority of the time. With a 10 turn high tier wait time, it works very well to fill in an empty space in your Orc squad if you’re needing extra direct offensive power combined with reasonable survivability. There’s a few (overall) better cards, like the festering troll, which fill a fairly similar ground role. However, if your lacking any better ground cards or you’re running a lot of Orcs, then the Raging Hydra is worth trying out because it can hold it’s own.

FBWS news from Cadfael

As many of us were waiting for the impending doom of Warstorm.com (which fortunately didn‘t happen yet), Cadfael was nice enough to chat with us for a while and offered some interesting new information mostly in regards to Facebook Warstorm. Many new updates and features are on the way.

As many of us were waiting for the impending doom of Warstorm, Cadfael was nice enough to chat with us for a while and offered some interesting new information mostly in regards to Facebook Warstorm. Many new updates and features are on the way.
In regards to future Facebook Warstorm updates:
“There are some fairly major FBWS updates coming in the very near feature; we're scrambling to get the next one tested before it goes up…yesterday was essentially dismantling the entire back end and reassembling it on Zynga servers. now the real work starts...
Plans for future card and set releases:
Cadfael: “I'm having to think a lot more in terms of single card releases, mini-sets, and events. which is fun, if a bit of a brain burn.”
Reasons why there won’t be a second migration:
Cadfael: “[The] first migration was a huge pain. doing another is more or less impossible due to the system changes.”
Plans for Facebook Warstorm in comparison to past plans for Warstorm.com:
Cadfael: “The .com plans are more or less the same ones that are being carried forward in WSFB. the biggest difference is that from a card design perspective”
Reason why the defense option was removed:
Macbryce: “It was too cumbersome to do with the defenses, although I tried.” (in regards to why FBWS needs more multiplayer features.)
Cadfael: “That's why we've stripped out the defense tab, Macbryce. You can still attack friends just fine, but it's based on their last deck played.”
Future socializing options  may be added:
Cadfael:  “As far as social play goes, I think it's reasonable to say that the most successful games have some really good ways for players to interact with their friends and see what their friends are doing. We are still learning how to do this.”
Staff changes from the switchover from CG to Zynga:
Cadfael:  “The vast majority of CG is now Zynga Austin.”
Future plans for Vampire type cards:
Cadfael: “I've always planned on doing more with the vamps, monsters was just an introduction for them.”
Easter Eggs hidden within the game:
Cadfael: “I would say that all the easter-eggs and/or hints are still in play.”
Whether or not the Monster Set cards still exist from the migration around 8 months ago:
Cadfael: “The monsters cards are still in the system. in fact, they caused a bug yesterday and added about half an hour to the update.”
In regards to the future of Facebook Warstorm compared to Warstorm.com:
Cadfael: “The .com plans are more or less the same ones that are being carried forward in WSFB. the biggest difference is that from a card design perspective”
Game influences:
Cadfael: “[The] biggest influence on WS has always been Magic, of course. But I've snuck in elements of Five Rings and Shadowfist whenever I had the chance.”
No plans for more factions
Cadfael: “Five is plenty.”
Future event card plans:
Cadfael: “We're still learning about how to use event cards well, but it's a neat area.”As many of us were waiting for the impending doom of Warstorm, Cadfael, a developer for the game, was nice enough to chat with us for a while and offered some interesting new information mostly in regards to Facebook Warstorm. Many new updates and features are on the way.

Did you know?

At one point, Enraged Yeti and Vistav Yeti were much more commonly used than Captured Hill Giants (CHG). The reason for this is flying cards. Before the Dragon set came out, no flying cards existed. This made the CHG generally less useful because it got no ground stat boosts.
